COVID-19 Pandemic: “How You React To It That Matters.” -Epictetus
How You React That Matters
One event that has defined the course of the world over the last year has been the COVID-19 pandemic. With an unprecedented global pandemic threatening the livelihoods of families all over the US, we are all having to make adjustments to our lives. With all the dark that currently surrounds us, there is one positive to the situation. We have been given a chance to evaluate what is really important to us and make changes in our life that will have a lasting effect on us even after this pandemic has finally come to an end.
With lockdowns being mandated and more professionals working from home than ever before, there has been a major change in our society. We have started to spend more time with our children, teaching them from home and sharing valuable memories with them. Our relationships have an opportunity to flourish as we spend more time at home together. With many people having more free time than ever, the opportunities for learning and growing are endless. Many people have found time to pick up a book they have been meaning to read, start a new hobby, or start a business on a side. Statistics show that freelance workers are on the rise, with more young people turning to gig work and making their passion into an extra source of income.
All of this shows us that sometimes it is not what happens to us, but how we respond to it that matters. It is normal for us to feel confused and scared about the future in these uncertain times, but we also should have hope for the future. Take this opportunity to get in tune with your body and improve your health. If you are not getting enough sleep, enough exercise, or are eating a poor diet then your immune system will be weakened and your risk of catching the virus will be greater. By improving your health overall, you can protect yourself from COVID-19 and form healthy habits to carry into the future.
Even though we are socially distanced, we are not alone. We are all in this together. At our practice, we are doing our part to support the community. Our dental office remains open to the public for the treatments that you need in a safe and hygienic environment.
